Nothing like the sound of the pelota hitting that front wall! Dania Jai-alai finally was able to reopen Thursday night following a county-wide shutdown on March 15th due to the Corona virus. Attendance was right around the limited capacity for the first 5-6 games. The second and 4th rows of seating were closed off, and open rows were marked where you could sit with the other seats zip tied closed. Extra betting terminals were brought in to keep the betting public further apart.
Not all went off well as many were unhappy to see the odds and scoreboard were not working for the first 4 games, making it confusing. The tote board was eventually fixed from that point with only brief minor glitches after that.
The pools were healthy and even included a huge quinella payoff of around $350 in one of the games. Even seen one that high before?
Special thanks to George Quinn for supplying the photos and information.
